Working Conditions: DSPs work in a changing environment that adjusts to people needs of program services. The environment might be hastened with distractions, interruptions and deadlines. DSPs will need to be flexible and have the ability to adapt to changing needs or actions. Based upon the needs of the people, the job can be physically demanding such as moving or supporting individuals with mobility needs, moving or lifting things up to 50 lbs., standing or walking for long periods of time or providing assistance through behavioral support, CPR/First Aid and other interventions. DSPs have to have an insured vehicle in good working order to use for incidental transportation needed for employees and program participants to and from community activities.
